Dear Prayer Warriors,

I pray this message finds you well and deeply rooted in the peace of Christ.

I wanted to take a moment to update you on what’s been happening at our YWAM base here in Siem Reap, Cambodia. As tensions have risen along the Thai--Cambodian border, people from other mission bases have relocated to ours, and we are now at full capacity.

We were also blessed to receive a team from YWAM Kona, a Korean DTS team, who have stepped into the ongoing humanitarian efforts with incredible heart and humility. They will be here for three weeks to help serve. They came fully aware of the conflict, yet still chose to serve. I share this because it’s a powerful reminder of the unity of the global Church, nations coming together to serve amid crisis.

Both Thailand and Cambodia have engaged in ceasefire talks with U.S. President Trump and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. A ceasefire agreement was reached on July 28th. However, most recently on Sunday, August 3rd, Thailand evacuated Thai families near the Thai-border, while placing military personnel, and began preparing for the possibility of renewed conflict which would end the ceasefire agreement. Our base threw itself into intercession prayer at this news, as we have seen the realities of the war and the number of displaced families that are hurting from this conflict. In response, Thailand and Cambodia are now meeting for the next three days in Malaysia in hopes of a peaceful resolution.

CNN reported that over 135,000 people were displaced within the first two days of the war. That number has surely risen as more families on both sides continue to be affected. In response, our base is actively providing food, clothing and is now preparing to assist in rebuilding homes for families living near the border.

Despite the crisis, we are continuing to run our Bible school for local missionaries, pastors to receive Bible literacy and the YDC program for the children. We remain committed to what God is doing here. Alongside these ministries, our team has been working extended hours to pack and distribute aid, bags of food, supplies, and other essentials.

Thank you for standing with us in prayer. Please continue to lift up this region, the displaced families, our missionaries, and all those working on the ground to bring hope and help. Please also pray specifically for the next three days of talks between Thailand and Cambodia that God would move in the hearts of leaders and bring about true peace between the nations.

At this time, please pray for:

As believers, we are not called to grow in fear or discouragement. In Matthew 24:6-13, Jesus reminds us that while we will hear of wars and rumors of wars, we are not to be alarmed. These things must happen, but the end is still to come. He encourages us to stand firm in faith, knowing that those who endure will be saved.

  • Peace and wisdom in the upcoming negotiations between Thailand and Cambodia

  • Protection and provision for the 135,000+ displaced individuals and families

  • Strength and endurance for our team as they serve both practically and spiritually

  • Continued unity among the different YWAM teams and missionary bases

  • Open hearts among the local people to as the Gospel is shared through both word and action: Hearts open to hear, and receive Jesus in their hearts.

-With blessings, love, and gratitude,

 Alexis Muñoz
