Here is the Bible school in the Philippines.

Dear Prayer Warriors,

I pray this message finds you well and deeply rooted in the peace of Christ.

The Send Conference Philippines

This month I have the privilege of being in the Philippines for two weeks, serving in several different ministries. I arrived last week to help with The Send Conference, where I was invited to serve at the Vulnerable Children booth. Sharing about YWAM, and the work I get to partner & invest into.

The Send is a gathering that encourages and mobilizes the next generation of missionaries. Believers come together for worship, prayer, and opportunities to learn about serving both locally and internationally. It was such a joy to stand alongside many incredible organizations and witness so many people respond to God’s call by exploring ways they can serve and participate in missions.

Teaching in the Philippines

I have also had the privilege of teaching at a newly pioneered Bible school. YWAM Impact, based in Maragondon, has recently begun running schools, and some dear friends of mine are leading this exciting new work. They invited me to teach on the Late Prophets for this week, and it has been a deeply meaningful experience.

I have loved the warmth and hospitality of Filipino culture. In many ways, the cultures of Cambodia and the Philippines share similar values, which has brought a sense of familiarity and comfort. The students have been a joy to teach and fellowship with as we have spent time discussing Scripture together. I continue to feel incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve in this way.

One student shared this encouragement with me:

"Teacher, thank you for teaching us the Bible. I have felt so encouraged this week through your teaching. I know it takes sacrifice to come here, but I am so grateful. You have taught me so much."

As I received those words, I was reminded that this encouragement belongs not only to me, but also to each of you who pray, support, and partner with this ministry. Your faithfulness makes these opportunities possible, and I am deeply thankful.

Ministry with Women in the Red-Light District

During my time here, I was also invited to serve in a Bible study for women working in the red-light district. Many of these women carry stories marked by poverty, abuse, abandonment, and deep hardship. Some are widows, some grew up as orphans, and many have experienced significant trauma throughout their lives.

This past week, we gathered for Bible study and a time of processing and prayer. As the women shared their stories, it was striking how many of their experiences mirrored one another. We listened, prayed, and created space for them to reflect on the hopes and dreams God has placed in their hearts.

One activity invited them to draw a picture representing a dream they had for their future. Nearly every woman, and one transwoman (a man), drew a home filled with family, safety, and belonging. It was a powerful reminder that beneath every story is a deep longing to be loved, known, and restored.

This is one of the many 15 images drawn by the women who wanted a home and family.

Biblical Counseling and Care for Missionaries

One growing need I continue to see on the mission field is the need for healthy spaces where people can process what they are carrying. Missionaries often encounter poverty, trafficking, neglect, abuse, and trauma on a regular basis, and the weight of these experiences can be significant.

Before joining YWAM, I spent four years studying and training in counseling. While I am not licensed in the Philippines, I was able to offer biblical counseling and ministry care sessions to some of the staff here. It was a blessing to provide a safe place for missionaries to share, process, receive prayer, and be encouraged in their own journeys.

A Note of Gratitude

As I reflect on these past weeks, I am filled with gratitude. Thank you to each person who has prayed, encouraged, and partnered with me along the way. Your support allows me to continue teaching, discipling, and serving in places where there are great needs and beautiful opportunities for the Gospel.

If you have been considering partnering with this ministry, I would love to invite you to join in prayer for the people and communities being served. If you also feel led to support financially, your partnership helps make it possible for me to continue investing in Bible teaching, discipleship, counseling, and outreach among vulnerable communities.

Above all, thank you for being part of this journey. I am continually encouraged by the ways God brings people together to participate in His work around the world.

Prayer Request

Personal

  • Prayer for finances: I would be grateful for prayer as I've experienced a significant decrease in support over the past few months. Please pray that God would provide, renew support, and guide me through this season. Pray for wisdom, encouragement, and trust as I wait on His timing and provision. Thank you for praying for me.

The Send Conference

  • Pray for the many individuals who responded to God's call to missions.

  • Pray for the organizations represented at the conference as they continue to equip and mobilize believers.

YWAM Impact Bible School

  • Pray for the students as they continue studying God's Word and growing in their faith.

  • Pray for the leaders and staff pioneering this new Bible school, that God would provide wisdom, strength, and resources.

Women in the Red-Light District

  • Pray for healing, restoration, and freedom for the women who participated in the Bible study.

Missionaries and Ministry Workers

  • Pray for the missionaries serving in difficult and emotionally demanding environments.

  • Pray for emotional, spiritual, and physical health as they minister to vulnerable communities. That they would have safe spaces to process challenges, receive encouragement, and remain spiritually refreshed.

With love and prayerful gratitude,

Alexis Muñoz
