Prayer and Hope for Southeast Asia

Dear Prayer Warriors,

I pray this message finds you well and deeply rooted in the peace of Christ.

In the midst of challenges, I am reminded daily that our God is faithful and ever-present. These past weeks have been a testimony of His guiding hand, even in moments that felt uncertain. While the world around us seems to shift with conflict, hardship, and need, God’s kingdom remains unshaken. This right here gives me supernatural peace.

The number of displaced has now risen to 300,000 families. My team and I had the greatest opportunity to go to the families and soldiers to provide food and supplies. We also had the privilege of seeing firsthand the homes and schools that have been attacked, so that our team can begin planning for rebuilding and repairing damages. Even in the midst of destruction, I am thankful that God allows us to be His hands and feet to bring hope.

Thailand and Cambodia remain in conflict. Last week, the two nations held a meeting to discuss the war, border issues—including drug and human trafficking—and how they might eventually come together again. While no decisions have been made yet to reopen their borders to one another, the progress in meeting and speaking is a great sign, and I remain both prayerful and grateful.

As of now, Thailand originally had 18 Cambodian soldiers as prisoners of war; one, who was in critical condition, has been returned. They still hold 17 soldiers. The reports I receive are primarily from Cambodian news sources, but I want to be clear that this does not shape my heart toward our neighboring nation. My desire and prayer is for both Thailand and Cambodia to experience peace and reconciliation, so that the love of Jesus may freely spread throughout all of Southeast Asia.

Here in Cambodia, we continue to see God’s goodness poured out. Families displaced by conflict are receiving care. Children are finding encouragement in the midst of fear. And through the prayers and generosity of many, hope is being restored where despair once lingered.

Bible School Update

In the midst of all this, our Bible School has been a place of great encouragement and growth. Students are diving deep into God’s Word, learning not only how to study the Scriptures, but also how to live them out in practical ways. It is such a joy to see them gaining boldness in their faith and a clearer vision for how God can use them in their communities and beyond.

Several students have expressed a renewed desire to share the Gospel with their families and neighbors, even in difficult times. This is a huge deal as some students have hidden their faith as fear of being shunned and rejected from family are a reality. Some of these students in reading the stories of other believers in scripture no longer fear familial rejection, but the fear that their family won't hear the story of Jesus and be saved. We believe that this next generation of leaders will be vital in carrying the hope of Christ throughout Cambodia and Southeast Asia. Please pray that they remain steadfast, hungry for God’s truth, and equipped to bring light into dark places.

A Special Thank You

To each of you who are reading this, praying faithfully, and choosing to be part of the story that God is writing here in Cambodia and across Southeast Asia, thank you. Your prayers, encouragement, and willingness to stand with us mean more than words can express. You are not just supporting from a distance; you are co-laborers in the Gospel, helping to bring light into places of darkness and hope into the lives of those in need.

Because of your faithfulness, families are fed, children are encouraged, soldiers are ministered to, and students are being trained to carry the good news of Jesus Christ further than we could ever go alone. We are deeply grateful to be on this journey with you, and we believe that together, we will continue to see God’s kingdom advance in powerful ways.

Please continue to lift up the following in prayer:

Salvation & Evangelism opportunities: That the Holy Spirit would go before opening the hearts of the individuals so that they receive God into their lives.

Protection and Peace: For those living near conflict zones and for wisdom among leaders.

Provision: That families and children would receive the resources they need.

Strength for Our Team: As we serve in both practical and spiritual ways, pointing people back to Jesus. Also, for health & mindset. Seeing the devastation of war we would love prayer for God to protect our health physically, emotionally, and mentally.

Reconciliation: That Thailand and Cambodia would see peace, and the Gospel would move freely across Southeast Asia.

Together, let’s keep pressing into God’s promises, standing firm in faith, and carrying the light of Jesus Christ to places of darkness.

With a prayerful-gratitude and hope,

Alexis Muñoz
