Dear Prayer Warriors,

"How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” Romans 10:14-15

Even on the hardest day I am blessed by the call. The life and teachings of Jesus, He displayed how to live it out so well. I desire to live in that same faithfulness, and love. Ministry is a family business: making sure nobody misses the opportunity to hear the Gospel and know the eternal love and adoption found in Christ. I pray this message finds you well, encouraged, and deeply rooted in the peace of Christ.

Bible Teaching

This month, I had the joy of teaching our wonderful Bible students for one of their weeks of study, focusing on the Late Prophets. It was such a sweet and meaningful week! The students and I had so much fun digging into the historical background and context of these books and discovering how much richer Scripture becomes when we understand the world in which it was written.

One of the greatest blessings for me as a teacher has been watching my students grow not only in their understanding of the Bible, but also in their desire to truly fall in love with God’s Word.

On our last day, I had a little fun and asked the students to dress up in “Bible-style” clothing. On a mission base, that basically means getting creative with whatever you already own and making your own custom outfit! It was such a sweet and memorable time together.

YWAM Cambodia Annual Conference

For the past few months, we have been preparing for YWAM Cambodia’s 2026 Annual Conference. This is a special time when missionaries from across Cambodia gather together in one region to worship, connect, and talk about the vision and mission God has given us for this nation.

One of the goals we are praying and working toward is to see 10% of Cambodia become Christian by 2033. Cambodia is a nation where Buddhism is deeply rooted, alongside Islam, Hinduism, and other religious beliefs. The vision is to see the nation of Cambodia transformed by the Gospel, and receive the Lord Jesus into their lives.

During the conference, time is spent sharing about our different ministries and celebrating what God is doing throughout the country. This year, we anticipated more than 400 missionaries, staff, and missionary children gathering together. I planned and helped prepare, but was unable to attend as I got sick.

Illness on the Mission Field

This is probably the part of the newsletter that was most difficult to write.

I never want to make missions look perfectly put together, because it isn't. There are beautiful moments, difficult moments, victories, and moments when you simply have to admit, “I’m sick.” So, with a little vulnerability, here is what this month has looked like for me.

On my final day of Bible teaching, I was feeling quite sick, but I waited until after teaching was finished before going to the hospital on August 8. That same day, the doctors recommended that I have a surgical procedure. I have been recovering since then, and thankfully, I am doing so much better now. I’m keeping the details of the surgery private for the time being.

Then, this week, I was hit with bronchitis. I ended up spending four days in the hospital because my fever reached 104°F. Every time the medication wore off, the fever would return, so the doctors worked to regulate my temperature and get it back to normal.

I had hoped to write this newsletter sooner to ask you all for prayer, but my body was so weak that I could barely keep my eyes open.

My local pastor here in Cambodia and his wife became regular visitors during my hospital stay. It was honestly a very lonely and scary experience. I think being single made me recognize some of the realities of that loneliness in a deeper way. Yet, somehow, in the middle of the fear, I also experienced an incredible peace from God. How can you be afraid and peaceful at the same time? I don't completely know how to explain it. That peace was just so supernatural, and that's all I can write on that. I just know that God's peace was there, and He healed me.

I was in such a fragile state and in full dependence on God. I just had my worship music playing, and I declared Ephesians in the hospital room while I laid hands on my body to pray for healing. My team tried to visit when they could, but so many of them got sick, so our team, who needed to host this conference, was low on staff. It was a crazy time.

A Spiritual Battle

As the conference was happening, I felt a deep sense that what we were experiencing was not by accident. There was so much sickness and so many unexpected things happening around the conference that it felt like spiritual warfare.

I want to share some of what happened, not to create fear, but so that you can pray with us.

During this season, our team and those attending the conference experienced:

  • A car hit one of our missionaries while he was on a moto

  • Typhoid fever

  • Dengue fever

  • COVID

  • Pneumonia

  • Bronchitis

  • Flu

  • A glass door shattering on an entire family, including small children

I also want to be clear about something: the enemy does not have the final word. Jesus does.

I refuse to give fear or the schemes of the enemy more attention than they deserve. We believe God is our healer, our protector, and our strength. We will continue to pray, continue to stand, and continue to give all the glory to God.

The realities of missions are that we are living in a daily spiritual battle, but oh, how good the Lord is.

Even in sickness, He has been faithful.

Even in fear, He has given peace.

Even in weakness, He has been my strength.

I will echo this from the rooftop because that is the God we serve. A God who has walked in the fiery furnace with us. Even when we feel completely scared and abandoned, He is with us. I am crying typing this because this month has revealed to me my complete dependence on Him, and I couldn't have survived this month without Him holding me together. I am blessed beyond measure that the One I surrender to is the One who loves my soul.

Thank you for standing with me, praying for me, and being part of what God is doing here in Cambodia. Your prayers truly matter. It's my greatest honor and privilege to be a missionary and serve the Lord in this capacity on the best and most challenged day.

All Glory & Honor to the living King, Jehovah Nissi (The Lord is my banner)
